Truro Tales

Wow! What a week we had! Check out some photos of some of our adventures by clicking on this link.

Our home in Truro is a former Coast Guard Station. With plenty of bedroom and living space, a large modern kitchen and dining room, and spectacular views, it’s a wonderful place to spend the week! The purpose of our trip is to learn about the history and habitats of Cape Cod. We will visit beaches, dunes, swamps, and tidal pools. While there we will take note of the many different plants and animals living in each location. We will learn to identify both producers and consumers, as well as some of the natural and human history of Cape Cod.  By the end of the week, students will be able to identify bivalves vs. univalves, the end of glacial Cape Cod, the site of the shipwreck Jason, native and non-native plants, and the 5 benefits of poison ivy, among many other things. More importantly, students will develop an understanding of the interactions between organisms in an environment, change over time, and the impact of humans on the natural world.
